X-Mas Crossbow

Postby Mike » 09:20 pm Jan 02 2011

Lindsey got me a Barnett Quad 400 Crossbow for X-Mas and I was very supprised. I have been wanting one for a while. It is very fun to shoot. I put a crank cocking devise on it so it is easy to cock. It shoots at 345 fps. It is a 3 dot sight on it, which I am going to replace with a 3X scope at some point.

This is my first attempt at any type of archery hunting. I went to Academy to the archery aisle and I just stood there with no idea what to buy. I got some 100 grain Rage three blade broadheads. I got it sighted in last weekend and I cant wait to smoke a doe or pig.

I told Mike that it'd be cool to stick a hog or coons from under the feeder but at $9 a bolt it could sure get expensive in a hurry. cup.gif

345 FPS is pretty good, I have an old PSE Carroll Intruder compound bow with an overdraw on it and it was shooting around 305 FPS. Back in 1991. And smoked young doe with it and it went clean through her . The arrow entered in from back hip and came out front shoulder. You should love the cross bow, have fun.
