If they are skinned quickly and soaked in bleach for a week and then left to dry out in the hot sun and finally soaked in salt water for two weeks they become a worst case food source for maggots that could be used as fish bait.
Not a lot of people will use maggots but if enough javelinas can be acquired to help boost the maggot population, I believe it might be enough to make people change their attitudes about the little critters.
While many folks in Texas consider them pests, Arizona and New Mexico don't, they are treated like other Big Game species, and if you like me have wrestled with a good sized maggot over a javelina hindquarter you know they are very dangerous game.
While I consider my hunts fairly economical, take time to look at what some other folks charge for a javelina hunt, or what they charge, just to shoot a javelina while on a hunt foe another species. Use the upmost care when hunting foes they are already against you and will most certainly attack when you find them.
Times are changing and people are changing their attitudes toward some of the non-premier species like whitetails. JMO.
