Scrape and Rub found today

Postby Mike » 11:01 pm Nov 21 2010

We were down at the lease this morning for an early hunt. No deer came to the feeder, so about 10:00 we decided to drive around a bit. We drove to the north side of the place and found this scrape and rub.

I have not been to the north side in about 8 months because there were cows and an electric fence up. I think the land owner kicked the cows off because the man that lease the grass over grazed it with too many cows. Now the electric fence is down and the cows are gone so we put up a feeder to try to bring in some more deer.

Lindsey and hunted this new feeder yesterday evening. We just sat in the pick-up about 250 yards to the south and a little to the west. The wind was blowing from the south and I did not think anything would come in, but at about 5:30 a buck showed up. I stalked up to about 140 yards but it was getting too dark to see exactly what he was. I know he was at least an eight point and looked pretty good, but I just could not see well enough to decide to shoot.

I am going this weekend as much as possible since there will be no moon. Hopefully that deer will show back up with more daylight left and I can get a good look at him.
