How was your season?

Postby twice70 » 08:08 am Feb 03 2011

Well I think deer season is over for pretty much everybody unless you are on MLD. We saw a lot of deer, and were able to hunt several different places. All I killed was a spike, but my son killed a spike and two does and my Dad killed an 8 point while my son was hunting with him, so that was cool. I was happy with our season. What about ya'll?

I am happy with the way my Deer season turned out. I did however lose a doe across a fence and the big 8 point that was 2 & 1/2 yeras old was shot by a guy on an adjoining property who said he would not shoot it. I saw lots of deer and even some really nice bucks and got a couple of pretty nice culls.

That's cool. Sucks about the doe though. If I remember right you asked to retrieve it and he said no didn't he? Don't know why some people are like that.

No luck here. Could have shot 2 or 3 times but was looking for the big freaky 7x3. I'm in a one buck county.
Shot a few hogs & killed a lot of time but loved every minute of it.

Thats correct we called the land owner and he did not answer everyone in the area was stripping cotten most of November and December so he was busy. Then we called the game warden and he said " I will call him but you know what he is going to say... Dont waste a tag there are too many does over there any way". The GW and my land owner went and talked to him later that week and after a "bad conversation the GW & land owner started to walk of and the guy stopped them said he was sorry and my land owner and the shooter only could look for a wounded animal but to call him first every time

We ended up having another doe jump the fence the day after Thanksgiving and were able to retreive it. That fence line seems to be the direction they like to run after being shot. This wheat/cotten field is at least 4 square miles and they come from all directions however they seem to want to run towards that fence when shot.

One typical 9 point with split brows and a drop tine and 5 hogs and plenty of time. Very pleased with my season in TX and in South Africa.
