We got our plots planted. (Updated with fence pics)

Postby Mike » 01:55 pm Aug 29 2010

We went to the lease yesterday and got our food plots planted.

We got everything plowed up and cleaned up.

We pulled a drag around to get most of the grass out of the soil.

We used a broadcast spreader to spread wheat, chicory, winter peas, and oats.

And finally we covered up the seads by pulling the drag back over the soil.

Now I just hope we can get some rain to get things going.

I just have to get the electric fence up around it to keep the cows out and I will be done with the major projects for the year.

That is great. It doesn't take much to get the seeds going.

Went down yesterday and got my electric fence up around the foot plot. It did not take that long and I am real happy with it.

I got lucky and the power pole next to the fence had a electric fence box on it and the land owner said I could use it. That saved me from having to buy one. I hope putting the flagging tape all around it will help the deer see it and not get shocked and run away.
