A 2001 Chevy Tracker, which I was told was totaled by the insurance company.
2.0 L, fuel injection, 4X4.
The vehicle tracked sideways running down the highway and was very unstable, so they totaled it, because the "Frame was bent 4 to 6 inches".
After brief inspection, I could immediately tell that the rear axle had been jammed over and the inside of the tire was rubbing on the fender well, but the frame was straight as an arrow. :D
My Dad and I put it on the lift for a closer undercarrage inspection.
15 minutes later, we had her lined back up and straight as new.
All we did was remove and straghten what looks like a sway bar, but is called something else. You can tell how mechanically inclined we are.
This bar was bent badly and pulling the rear axle to the side of the vehicle.
Once straghtened, it held the axle in the correct place.
I hit 85 mph on the short drive back to the house and is was as stable as any vehicle this short, scared the poo out of Dad.
I placed a set of white spoke wheels and 31 inch tires on it, along with a set of 1.5 inch spacers, to widen and stabilize the stance.
Here's the interior, Automatic transmission, am/fm with CD, hot heater, and ice cold A/C. Hunting in comfort! 8)
Next is a set of WARN manual hubs, a 2 inch body lift, grill guard with lights, and rear cargo rack with reciever hitch.
Then look a building a set of hunting seats for the rear.
Oh, and of course a coat of camo.
Not too shabby for $400.
Mike and the kids have named her "The Jenny" from Forrest Gump.
