Bobcat

I spotted movement in the tall grass as I was walking the narrow road leading to my blind in the bottoms area of my lease. I sat down in some brush and looked through my bino's, about 150 yards away I see this guy eating from a gut pile. A light breeze was in my favor so I decided put the stalk on his arse.

I moved closer using heavy brush and small cedars as cover. I got within 100 yards, I think he then detected my movement and trotted off into the brush.
I sat motionless for about 5 minutes then quietly moved closer. I wiggled my way into the center of a small cedar about 55 yards from the gut pile and his exit point into the brush. I used a cedar branch about the thickness of a mans thumb as a rest. The small branch wouldn't support the full weight of my rifle so semi off hand shot was the only option.

After about 10 minutes I saw him stick his head out of the thick cover about 20 yards farther away than where he went in. He slowly started to pick his way through the brush coming towards me and the gut pile. As he crossed the road (an open area maybe 8 feet wide) I tried to find my target through the scope, nothing but black, In the excitement of the stalk I forgot to flip open the objective lens cover. I corrected the mistake and waited for another opportunity, one that came surprisingly quick.

The cat started across the open area from my left to right, I acquired my target released the safety and then, crack the limb snapped. This caused him to pivot in his tracks and start off in the opposite direction.
The cross hairs told me it was time.
My Remington barked interrupting the quietness of the cold foggy morning, sending the 7-08 140 grain hand load ending this hunt.

Sorry about the long winded story, IMO nothing interesting or special about the bobcat other than how it was taken.

Not often one is successful stalking a Bobcat. Usually it is done the other way around by calling them in. Good job!
