Why do people consider Javelinas, to be Varmints, when it clearly states in ALL TP&W literature that they are Game Animals.

Also, in Arizona and New Mexico they are afforded the same basic status as Big Game animals, with tags having to be drawn for and specified hunting seasons established.

While Texas does not issue tags for javelina, the way they do deer and turkey, they are none the less classified as Game Animals.

I think that Javelinas and Feral Hogs should have a topcic area of their own, and not be lumped in with varmints. JMO.

Last year TPWD tried to make them MLJP like the WT but it failed so maybe some people think like that but the state does not.

Yes, I know some of the folks in TP&W feel that way about Javelina, but I hope to see it change one day.

As for the move to issue MLJP's, that was spearheaded by the Callahan Ranch or so I heard.

As I said, it is just my opinion, but I know that I have changed a few folks mind about javelina and the economic potential they present.

They will never compete with deer/turkey or even feral hogs, in a popularity contest, but the interest in hunting them, especially from out of state hunters is growing.

If I cant find one on another hunt I will be at your ranch one day. A badger might speed up the process.

I do not care what they do with the Javelina's (not many around here), as long as the hogs are open season any legal means except for poison.
I love hunting me some hogs. Dang site tastier. lol.gif cup.gif
