Postby elkaholic » 11:07 am Oct 01 2011

MY 2 BOYS JUST GOT DRAWN FOR THE NEW YOUTH HUNT FOR PALO DURO CANYON STATE PARK EITHER SEX HUNT AND I THINK IM MORE EXCITED THEN THEY ARE. ANYWAY I PLAN ON SCOUTING IT A FEW TIMES. BUT WANT TO ASK ABOUT ANY INFO ANYONE MIGHT HAVE ABOUT AREAS WITHIN THE PARK TO HUNT. I KNOW ITS A NEW HUNT BUT THIS IS A HUGE OPPORTUNITY. THEY NOT ONLY GET ONE DEER A PIECE EITHER SEX MULE DEER OR WHITETAIL WITH NO ANTLER RESTRICTION BUT THEY CAN SHOOT UNLIMITED AOUDAD SHEEP AND PIGS. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE....

Hello elkaholic welcome to the LSHF, Congrats to y'all on the youth hunt. I've hunted on the rim of Palo duro canyon on private land a number of times & have two nice mule deer to show for it. I think your best bet is to look for a draw that leads up to a wheat field that is how I got both of mine. Good luck to you and the boys & post up some pics.

Me neither but TxPapa's advice is solid, only problem is there may not be any wheat to be found.
If it's green, the critters will come, mesquite beans, weeds, anything really this year. It is dry, dry, dry!
