I passed on 2 different pairs of fawns and only had one mature doe in range but she saw me messing around with my dang thermacell before I saw her, BUSTED! My wife on the other hand got her first bow deer at 7:15 AM opening morning! First animal ever with her bow actually. She made a 25 yard shot with her Bear Bow and the doe ran about 40 yards before laying down. When she called me on the radio to tell me she connected she was PUMPED! I could tell she was still shaking. I didn't care if it was right in the middle of opening morning I headed her way. She didn't know how good she hit her but right after I got there and began tracking I heard the infamous death moan in the brush ahead of us. After that it was all high fives and pics. She was on cloud nine the rest of the weekend! I'm super proud of her! I learned her everything she knows about hunting and bow hunting. This is only her second season bow hunting and she's got one down. Like I told her, I know grown men that have hunted for 10 or 15 years and still never killed a deer with their bow.
Here's some pics of our trip.
