New future hunting partner

Postby 7mm TX Lab » 11:18 pm Oct 07 2010

Well guys my wife insisted that I do it, so I now have a new dog in the household. 8 week old German Shorthair Pointer. The breeder use to live up near Lubbock area by Lake Alan henry for a couple of years. He works for Brazos River Authority , He lived out on the lake area after it was built and also had a German Shorthaired Pointer that had a littler of pups and found a fawn that's mother was killed and had the fawn to nurse off the dog and its first year it was a 9 pointer. Some of you guys may have seen this on the news up in the Lubbock area, I think he said it was back around 1994.

Congrats on the pup. Good timing in that it gives you plenty of time to get it ready for next season.

Yes it does JVT. I plan on doing things right with training this pup. First thing to work on as of his first full day at home is firing a plastic cap gun while he is eating so that he will not be gun shy. The house training has gone good the first night at home. Hopefully when he gets trained and is old enough I will bring him on some LSHF hunts for us to enjoy.

I currntly have 2 Labrador retrivers. My oldest is 15 months old ( Choclate lab ) and he is a little gunshy, my fault I took him out dove hunting when he was 12 weeks old. The Second Lab ( Yellow ) has a bad right front elbow already at the age of 13 months, but he is a great dog just has a little limp in his walk but will run and play like normal.

That is pretty cool.

How is Galliano (spelling)?

Galliano is pretty slow right now. Only transporting about 50 passengers a day compared to the 450 or so we use to do. 4 mechanics per hitch were moved to Patterson around the last week in Sept. We still have 3 S-76C's in Mobile with 4 Mechanics over there.
