More from African Arrow Safaris in South Africa

Postby mudslinger » 03:46 pm Oct 04 2010

Just returned from a very successful trip to African Arrow Safaris in the Limpopo of South Africa. 4 of us bowhunters put 28 animals in the salt and had a great time and shot some tremendous trophies. Large Kudu, Gemsbok, Waterbuck, 4 Zebra, Impalas, big bull Nyala and a huge Warthog. Here are a couple of pics of my Warthog with 15 1/2" tusks and my big spot and stalk bull Nyala that measures out at 28 3/4" inch with 7 7/8" bases. If you would like pics of all the animals just shoot me an email and I will send pics of all 28 animals. The people that went were myself, Monty Shropshire, David Nelson and Terry Martin along with my wife and David's wife. Check out the website of our outfitter at http://www.africanarrowsafaris.com. The daily rates and trophy fees might be higher than most in South Africa, but this is a bowhunting outfit only with close to 100,000 acres of concession, small hunting groups and limited hunters per year to increase the trophy quality of the animals. When you see what we killed you will be amazed. 4 Zebra, 5 Kudu all over 50" with the biggest at 57 1/4" 4 Gemsbok, 5 Impala. Nyala, Warthog, Eland, 2 Blesbok, 3 Blue Wildebeest, Tsebe and Waterbuck. I bet you will not find many if any outfitters in Africa that can produce the #'s we shot plus the trophy size of what we shot. not many places that you cold take 4 rifle hunters and kill 5 Kudu all over 50"! Enjoy the couple of pics.

TL, you should really think about trying an African hunt with a bow. There are more and more places in South Africa set up for bowhunting only, such as African Arrow Safaris. The only place i will go is with AAS because he can get whatever animals I want because of his connections and concessions and he is a bowhunter along with all his PH's. there may be fancier places, larger places and cheaper places, but look at the trophies we killed. Doubtful if you could even do what we did with a rifle. Not saying we were hunting aplace that is just a pick out and shoot place, far from it, this was a harder hunt than we had in 2008 going by the #'s of animals we saw at the water. We were extremely lucky in the fact that when the animals did come to water, it was the ones we had chosen from our list to shoot. I was extremely lucky and blessed to have had the opportunity and took advantage of that opportunity to kill my big Nyala. Never even dreamed that would happen.

Maybe we should start planning a LSHF African bow hunt juggle.gif It would be a few years out for me but would really consider it. We already have the perfect guide for the job. (mudslinger)

I can almost guarantee a good hunt and a good rate if anyone wants to try and book a group hunt with African Arrow Safaris. he would take a group of probably up to 6 hunters and we could get together with Harry when he is in the states in january and February doing shows and work out a package deal with him. If it ever gets put together, let me know. We are booked again for 2012 with 2 of us probably going for a lioness with a bow.

Will your PH be at the Dallas Safari Club event at the Dallas Market Hall in January?

Yes he will be there and I will be there also. Make sure to come by and visit with us. I will praise this outfit forever, but I want you to ralize also that i get nothing in return for this, no discounts, no free animals or such. This is how much I believe in Harry and his family and the operation he runs. Looking forward to seeing you in Dallas in Jan.
