Kill or let go another year?

Postby helomech » 07:11 pm Aug 26 2009

Some of you know I am trying to manage my little place best I can. I am thinking I will let this one walk this year, but would love to hear others opinions.

BTW they are still in velvet.

This is a 7 point that I am going to try to kill this year. My place has quite a few 7 points and I am trying to kill all of them.

It's jmo But I would let the first deer walk He looks only 3 1/2 & the g2's are only going to get longer. cup.gif

The 7 point looks to be about 4 1/2 [ jmo ] & if you have a few of them I say put some meat in the freezer. woot.gif

You should show people the difference a few years of management has made on your place. With that said if the guys that lease the land a mile or so down the road are willing to let him walk dont take him. Also the the 7 point and all the other 7 point's need to go. I think there is a member on here who wants it really bad!

Just some FYI,

My boss told me this and figured I would share. He grew up on a small farm and he said growing up he would bury a bag of corn just barely underground so the deer would have to rut for it. He stated that if they rut for it they are more likely to stick around.

What do yall think?

Yeah, John I meant to talk to them this weekend but I lost track of time.

Diesel, not sure if they will hang around, it would just take them longer to get at it.
