Kids deer stand

Postby helomech » 10:26 am Sep 25 2010

Last year this stand blew over, and pretty much destroyed the box blind. Texaslefty and hoghunta helped me stand it back up and we used it for the rest of last season. I wanted it higher anyways so I completely took it apart, and made it 3 foot taller. Now I have to build the box blind for it. Not going to make it quite as big as it was though. I have a small work platform that I am going to use as the steps, and the last step is welded on the front of the platform. So far I don't have any money in it except for welding wire, but I am going to have to buy lumber, don't have any good lumber laying around.

Always up for a visit. I am going to get on it in the morning, and hopefully have it done before I leave for work. Going to Grapeland in the afternoon tomorrow to visit a friend (the pilot that I am offshore with). Well the dang lumber ran almost 200 bucks. And the price for my pine trees is in the toilet. Someone is making some money.

BTW the rain hit perfectly. It rained for about a hour, a little harder than I had hoped, but any rain is good.

I wish I would have known you needed some plywood, I would have been looking for some, like last time. It also would be a good excuse to come out too your place.

That was a really nice blind even after the damage I would like to see pics when you are done.

I need to get by there one day and see ya Brad. Lumber prices are high right now!! Are you going to be here for opening weekend of bow season or do you have to work?

Thanks John, but no reason to haul all that wood down here. Don't need an excuse to come visit.

Ryan I am going to be working for the opening.

Got it done, and will post some pics in a little.

Thanks guys, it came out pretty good. In a little while I am going to drag it to the spot it is going to be in. Going down the hill is going to be a little tricky with it. I will find out if all my welds are good.

Well I got in in place. It was a little scary at times. Had to place some metal in a washout to get through it.

The feeder is visible in the tree line. And the dirt tore up is one of the food plots.

Looking to the left in the gas pipeline. There is a food plot down there a ways, just before the hill drops off.

Looking to the right (north) there is a small food plot past the creek.
