I want to start trapping varmints!

Postby Txpanhandlehunter » 11:12 pm Jan 12 2012

Hey guys, I want to start trapping and skinning small varmints (i.e coons, bobcats, badgers, etc) we have lots on our land and I think it would be fun to live trap and learn to skin them out. Any tips on how to get started without a whole lot of cost? What are some "tips of the trade"?

Txpapa....I have been trapping hogs for a couple of years but it seems that these little targets are a little more tricky to trap! I have a small trap out near a feeder baited with Tuna for now. we will see how that goes!

Gordon.....2 words.... SHUT UP! LOL

Tuna will bring in Skunks first! I would like to get a badger, do you want to sell a Badger hunt. I would use something sweet for Racoons. Good luck with the Bobcats and Badgers in a trap.

Hey Lefty do me a favor and erase your information about the tuna bringing in skunks. Jason doesnt need to know that. I would LOVE to see him catch a skunk hehe.

I have a few tips for getting them out of the trap but it would require a phone call.

You can get them out without spraying but they will no longer be alive.

Apparently, I need to check this forum more often. I am glad you told me about the skunks, Lefty. I am more happy to know that you ruined Gordon's evil plan to get me sprayed by a skunk! LOL. I have seen 2 badgers out at my place this year, but it is the first time I have ever seen them. I would love to trap/kill one as well.

Oh, and Gordon, I may get sprayed when I move that trap with a skunk in it, but it would be worth it to set that cage on your front door step!

I would pay for a Badger, Varmint hunts are running asbout $300 right now.
