Hog Hunt 050909 (w/ pics and video)

Postby Mike on 03:58 pm May 10 2009

Lindsey and I loaded up again and headed down for a weekend hunt. We were hoping to harvest a turkey or two, but had no luck. All we saw were a few pigs. Fri night we got to the feeder at dark. At about 10:00pm a big black hog showed up at the feeder. A few minutes later four other hogs came running down the trail to the feeder and disrupted the first hogs dinner. He got a little angry and began to fight with the other four hogs. Lindsey had the first hog in her sights, but it kept running around fighting. Finally he stood stiil for a moment and she got a shot off. All five hogs ran in different directions. The hog she shot at ran into some thick cover. We went down and looked for about and hour and did not find him.

We went back to the cabbin and slept until 6:30. We went back to the feeder and walked up on a second black hog feeding. Lindsey got the video camera out and filmed the shot.

We watched my hog go down and we rode down on the 4 wheeler to look for her pig. We looked for about two hours and did not find him. I guess the coyotes and buzzards need to eat to. She was a little disappointed, because it would have been her first hog kill. There will be plenty more opportunities to kill hogs for her.

Here are a few pics of my pig.

Notice the exit hole. Almost a perfect circle.

If you watch the video click on the HD button on the bottom right of the video screen. The HD quality is much better. Lindsey bought me my new HD video camera a little while back. It makes some great videos.
