Grimes Co. TX bang stick buck

Postby Bill M » 08:16 pm Nov 16 2008

Well I did something that I haven't done in several years. I hunted with my .25-06! I haven't set anything up for bow hunting this property and wanted to go to this property yesterday evening instead of trying to steer an arrow through the winds here at home. The properties are a mile apart.

Anyway, I had this buck on the trail cam once I believe. I can't tell for sure if he broke the main beam at one point or if he tried a drop that got broke off. He is 17 7/8" inside. I shot him quartering away (can't shake bow hunting techniques) and hit him a little far back although no gut and retrieved what was left of the bullet in the opposite shoulder.

Here's a short video to show him coming in. The shot is heard but not seen.

He was only 17 7/8". Nice enough. I got him back from having him Euro mounted and he shrunk to 17 1/2".

I just sold the property I shot him on. They wanted me to leave my box stand and ground blind so I guess they are hunters. They have a surprise waiting for them.

Thanks again fellas.
