Feeder up - Pics added

Postby troglodyte » 09:07 am Jun 01 2010

My sons and I built a feeder and put it up on the land we'll be hunting this fall.

On the way in we jumped 5 deer and 1 on the way out. The first deer was a young buck, couldn't tell much about the other four as they were in and out of the bush. The last deer was a pretty decent doe. It's only half a section so we took this as a good sign.

We're anxious to get back down to check out the cam pics.

Near Colorado City.

Now to get the redneck blind up we built.

Edit 6-16-10
Redneck blind - used two exterior privacy panels from Spur HS' football field's restrooms. Seats three comfortably, four without being too snug.

Everytime I make it out to the lease I just end up fishing. So y'all are way ahead of me.

Good deal, "just half a section". I only hunt on 64 acres.

That's the difference in east Texas hunting and West Texas hunting. Y'all have those things called trees, creeks, and rain. Looking at some of the pics you post, you've got some pretty country down there.

Yeah, trees are nice. Post up some pics of your place. We would love to see them.

Let's see that redneck blind, bet I've got 1 or 2 that are more hillbilly but they work.

That is not a redneck blind in my opinion. If you were to piant or seal the legs it will most likely last a long time also.

Legs are treated lumber. But it wouldn't take long to throw on some paint.

We call it the outhouse blind. As mentioned earlier the box was from concession stand rest room privacy panels. The windows are out of some RV and the rest of the metal was salvaged from cutting out the windows. There is nothing square on the whole blind. Simply by blind luck we got the floor level front to back and side to side when we dropped it in the holes. That thing was all over the place as we tipped it up and it took all three of us to wrangle it. I had never raised a blind but saw a picture or two on some hunting forum and figured I could do it. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to be ignorant...you don't know what you're getting into...

A hard day's work and good memories between father and sons.

That stand is awesome. Especially for having been put together mostly from scavenged material.
Good job!
