FIRST ANNUAL WILD HOG EXTRAVAGANZA SET FOR MARCH

For Coleman county & the surrounding counties (Runnels, Callahan, Concho, McCulloch, and Brown county event.) Next week the full rules & regulations & such will be posted up on the colemanhunters site. THANKS.

The Coleman County Hunters Association (CCHA) and Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture, and Tourist Bureau will sponsor the first annual Wild Hog Extravaganza starting March 18 through 20.

The event will consist of three fun-filled festivities: A county-wide hog hunt, Texas Antique Tractor Pull Association sanctioned tractor pull competition, and a Hog Wild Cook-off.

In order to raise more awareness concerning the feral hog problem in Coleman and surrounding areas, the Coleman Hunters Association and Coleman Wildlife Committee are joining forces to promote the eradication of hogs in our area. Three cash prizes will be awarded for the largest combined bottom cutter tusks, measured to the nearest eighth of an inch. First prize will receive $500 per team or individual, second place will receive $300 per team or individual, and third place will receive $200 per team or individual. On top of the cash prize provided by both organizations, competitors will be eligible for a 75% payback from entry fees. That’s a fun way to earn some serious cash!

Entry fees for individuals of teams of two are $125 or $100 for Coleman County Hunters Association members. Jackpot opportunities will be available for heaviest boar and most boars killed. Those wishing to participate must not only register and pay entry fees, but they must also check in the day of the contest for a brief on the rules. All contestants must check in front of the Bill Franklin Center at the Coleman Rodeo Grounds from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18. Last minute registrations will be accepted up until 5:00 p.m. that day. The contest ends at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20. Any individual or team not in by 5:00 p.m. will be disqualified. For more information on rules and regulations, refer to www.ColemanHunters.com in the near future (rules are developing).

The Texas Antique Tractor Pull will host a tractor pull in conjunction with the event on March 18 and 19. TAPTA will allow practice pulls for tractors and pick-ups on Friday, March 18 starting at 4:00 p.m. Competition pulls will take place on Saturday, March 19 starting at 10:00 a.m. For registration and other information, contact Derry Rankin at 325-214-1330 or Kelly Blackerby at 325-660-8880.

The Hog Wild Cook-Off will take place March 18 and 19 at the Coleman Rodeo Grounds. Cook-off participants will have the opportunity to show off their pork barbecue skills with three competitions: Pork ribs, pork shoulder, and a unique category called “anything bacon”. The “anything bacon” category literally means that you can enter and compete with anything cooked with bacon. The contest will commence on March 18 at 5:00 p.m. Cook-off competitors are welcomed to set-up their stations and start cooking. Competitors will also be able to register and pay for entry fees at that time. Entry fees are $30 per category for non-members and $25 per category for Coleman County Hunters Association members. The The cook-off will be a 100% payback per category. Those attending Friday will be treated with LIVE MUSIC. Judging will take place the next day on Saturday, March 19 at a time to be announced.

We hope that you will join us for a weekend filled with fun and exciting events. The Coleman County Hunters Association is a newly formed association that hopes to promote more hunting opportunities and social activities. Whether you’re a local or out-of-town hunter, we welcome you to join the association and come out to the event for a fun-filled country celebration!
