1st bucks

Postby troglodyte » 12:53 pm Jun 18 2010

Since I'm new here I thought I'd post the pics of my son's and my 1st bucks.

I've hunted most of my life but growing up in a...well, I guess you'd call it...gun neutral home and relying on an invite to hunt I was real hit or miss if I'd get to hunt any given season or even year.

Once on my own I had a new dilemma...cash flow. I love my job but the pay isn't so great. To be truthful it really isn't very good but I consider what I'm doing to be a ministry and I get to influence kids every day. That being said I still required an invite to go hunting.

Then came last fall. I was able fortunate enough to get on a great lease for free and was lucky enough to take my youngest son. (oldest had already gotten his buck).

These are our deer. Certainly nothing special but they're our firsts. The boys and I are getting geared up for this season and we got a couple of mulies we are gunning for. I don't know how I'll afford to get one mounted but I'll sell a kidney if I take the grand-daddy we saw last year.

Youngest with his 8 pt. He put brother and me to shame.

My little 6 point. I'll admit I probably should have let him walk and given him a couple of more years but I also didn't know if I would get this hunt opportunity again.

Tell me about it! Although I'll admit I'm not too loyal of a follower under the Jerry Regime.

Appreciate the kudos.
